Store Meetings, A Motivational Must
One of the greatest wastes in American business today is meetings. One of the greatest wastes in the retail industry today is the practice of not holding meetings.
Sounds oxymoronic? Not really. Many industries with more seniority and time on this earth than retail hold constant meetings that are, in fact, a waste because managers have not been trained on how properly to use them. The retail industry may not have caught up to this level of sophisticated waste yet, as by our company's research, less than 10% of U. S. retail outlets have regularly scheduled store meetings.
However, both situations--too many and too few meetings--are equally bad and it's time that all retail store owners and managers get on the band wagon for better communication and direction of their expensive human resource assets.
Think about it. What you pay out each year in total payroll, payroll taxes and the like, and of course benefits or incentives is a small fortune. You could buy a lot of tapes or games with those dollars and I can't imagine that you wouldn't do everything you could to fully utilize those monies if invested in store assets other than humans.
So much for a sermon, but read on and follow this guide and I'll guarantee you'll get more employee productivity. I guarantee it!
